Firmware is the operational software that is embedded in your Cyber-shot camera. This utility will update the firmware of your DSC-F828 Cyber-shot camera and resolve the following issues:
If the memory stick media contains two or more folders, and you try to delete a picture during quick review, it may delete a different picture unintentionally or you are unable to delete the intended picture.
When a picture is copied from the computer to the camera via USB2.0 Hi-Speed mode, the file may become corrupt.

IMPORTANT: This update is not required for all DSC-F828 cameras. To determine whether or not you should install this Firmware update, please follow these steps to check the firmware version of your camera:
With the camera OFF, connect the AC-L15 AC adapter.
With the camera OFF, select SETUP on the mode dial.
With the camera OFF, press and hold the MENU button, and turn on the camera.
Release the MENU button.
With the multi-selector key, select Setup 2 (bottom left-hand side icon) on LCD.
Confirm "Version" number (bottom of screen).
If Version is "1", this update should be applied.
If Version is not "1", then this update is not required and should not be installed.
The process for installing this utility is to download the compressed firmware file to your computer, decompress the file and then copy it over to Memory Stick media, Memory Stick PRO media, Microdrive or CompactFlash Type I/II media. This media is then inserted into your camera and a series of steps are taken on the camera to complete the installation.
